I learned the neatest thing and just had to share it with y'all!!!!
Every time I crack open an egg, I will either crack it against the corner of a bowl or on the counter. Sure, it cracks open, but it always cracks into a crazy maze of cracks and usually will indent the egg and, oftentimes, will get a small amount of the shell into the egg white when I pour it into the bowl. Does this happen to y'all?
I read recently (and I am sorry to say that I have completely forgotten where I read it) that if you crack an egg on top of a towel, the break will be a straight line every time. I've done it every time since I read that and it DOES work!!! Every time the crack is in a straight line and I haven't gotten any extra little shell pieces that end up in the egg white!!! What a wonderful "trick" to learn!!!!

Cool! I think I'm going to go make some scrambled eggs now just so I can try that out!
Great tip! Guess it gives me an excuse to do some baking this weekend. Now...to find out who I can give it to so that I don't eat it all! :o)
Thanks for the tip.
I'm going to try that the next time I crack an egg open!
I just tried it and it totally works! Thanks again!
Thanks for the tip. Can't wait to try it out.
Oh, I'm going to try this, thanks so much for sharing it with us!
Blessings,

Ya' know what? I think I had heard this before, years ago, shucks, maybe I've even tried it before! Thanks for the refresher though!
God bless!
Wonder why that happens? Must be a science lesson in there somewhere.
But let me ask you this - doesn't it leak a bit onto the tea towel, thereby making ANOTHER piece of laundry (spoken by a mom of 5 with a busy (and dirty) dairy farm)???

Hello,
I just came across your blog. I think it was on Keeper at home. Well anyway, I love your blog. It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing that neat piece of info.

Oh, can't wait to try this one! I wonder if it works on a paper towel as well.
Mrs C- if you fold the paper towel a few times it does work, but not as well as the towel :)
ooooh! Thanks for the tip! I'll try it out for our Sunday AM breakfast before church! :)
Hi Ladies!!!
Tee hee!!! Isn't it funny how the littlest thing can make you so happy!! LOL!! I just LOVE cracking eggs this way! SO much neater!!!
And Debbie, I do get a smidge of the yolk on my towels at times. So, yes, it would cause more laundry. Sigh.....

Great tip, I just recently found your website....congratulations on your referral...your little girl is beautiful! You must be so excited. We are hoping to be included in the next round of referrals.
Mrs. U!! I tried this trick after reading your post and it really works!!!! I cracked one in front of Phillip and said, "does this look like a straight line to you?!" He was impressed! No more crunchy scrambled eggs around here, thanks for the tip!!

This is a great tip! I had doubts about it because I have a knack for messing the simplest thing up! : ) But, it really worked!!
I made French Toast over the weekend and just had to try this! I'm here to say that it really works!! LOVE IT!!
Hi Jane!!! I will definitely pray that y'all are next!! I know you are like us- you feel like you've been waiting EONS!!!!
I am SO very glad that all of y'all TRIED this!! Isn't it neat?? I'm sure some branch of science could explain this... maybe one day we'll know WHY this way of cracking an egg works!!

Mrs. U
It is the little things, I tell ya..:)
Julieann:)
I will repeat the statement, "It really does work!" LOL Thanks for sharing.
Mrs. Taylor
Wow, you can teach an old gal a new trick! Thanks!
So I just lay a towel on the counter and crack the egg on the towel instead of directly on the counter or edge of the bowl? I'll definitely try it. sounds crazy though.
I tried it, and it does work! I was tempted to just keep cracking eggs just for the fun of it . . .
Ok...what did I do wrong? I tried this and ended up with a towel full of egg.
Oh dear, Bethanie!! Did you crack it too hard?? I barely tap mine when I crack them. Perhaps that is it??

Mrs. U
Wow! Thanks for the tip.

All this fuss over eggs! We must be genuine domestically inclined homemakers!!! Soooo funny! I'll just have to give this a try when we are over the flu - no baking or egg scrambling going on just now! In fact the very mention of eggs has me quesy ..... got to run!
