Readying for Spring...

I must admit, Elizabeth is MUCH more excited about spring cleaning than I am!!

Last week, she wanted to clean windows SOOO badly, but I don't like her using Windex because I don't want her inhaling the fumes nor do I want to take the chance of her ingesting any of it. I promised her a trip to Walmart so that she could pick out her very own cleaning bottle. WOOHOOO the girl was ECSTATIC and here she is cleaning away!!!!

Here's a closeup of her prized cleaning bottle. She was even more excited when we mixed a special concoction for her to use to clean- fill it up with water, add 1/2 tsp baking soda and a drop of dishwashing liquid. The girl is ready to clean the world, I do believe!!!

This is how full her bottle was when she started cleaning....

And this is how much of her special "cleaning solution" she had left after only a FEW hours "cleaning"!! HA!! She was REALLY into cleaning, wouldn't you say?

So have YOU started your spring cleaning yet? Are your children helping??

A special one year anniversary GIVEAWAY!!!

Photo from here.

Wooohoooo!!! I am officially celebrating my one year anniversary of being Diet Coke free!!!!!

Some of y'all may remember my post last year with a photo of my very last Diet Coke. Boy, it was HARD to share about giving it up. Once you put it on a blog, gosh, MAJOR accountability sets in, doesn't it? :) But here I am, one year later, and no Diet Coke has been consumed since then!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! I know the Lord helped me stop drinking it- do you know that I did not have ONE craving for it? Not even a headache, either!!

Y'all know I have to celebrate with y'all, right? And since I can't very easily have all of you over for a big piece of cake (oooh, that WOULD be fun, wouldn't it??), I would LOVE to have a giveaway!!!!!

Okay, my first favorite drink in the world is water!! MMMM!!! And my second favorite drink in the world is tea (specially Adagio!!!)! So what better giveaway can I have than to somehow combine my two favorite drinks together, right????? So here we go..........

A new discovery...

On a recent family trip to Savannah, GA, I discovered a dreamy store called The Paris Market. Don't those front doors just say "Come on in and browse around for a while!!!" So, that's just what we did.

And inside I found this...

Caldrea!!!! My sister had recently told me about these products- how good they are and how fabulous they smell. I had complained to her that not one store in my area carried this. Lo and behold, there was a huge shelf full of their products!!! I immediately snagged their Basil Blue Sage Linen Spray and LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOVE using it when I iron or to freshen up our sheets in the morning when I make the bed (after, of course, airing out the bed!!!)! The smell is fresh and clean and BOY do I plan on purchasing more of Caldrea's products!!

Do any of y'all use Caldrea's products? If so, which ones? And do you love them??

Do you use a dish drain?

Just curious... how many of y'all use a dish drain? Do you keep it by your sink at all times?

If you do not use a dish drain, do you just wash a few dishes, then dry them and put them away, and then repeat this process?

All the pretty kitchen photogaphs I've seen all have one thing in common- no dish drain!!! I was just curious if I was the only person alive (well, my mother, too) that still uses a dish drain?

And just maybe I could do without it to for a while to see if I really need it? Wow, my kitchen counter would seem MUCH roomier without it, I am sure!!

Pumpkin Muffins...

Easy and SO delicous!! And these freeze nicely, too! Perfect to have on hand for on-the-go breakfasts or a quick snack! Yum!

Pumpkin Muffins

2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/3 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, slightly beaten

1 Heat oven to 400 . Stir together all ingredients except butter, pumpkin, buttermilk and eggs in large bowl. Stir together all remaining ingredients in medium bowl. Stir into flour mixture just until moistened.
2 Spoon batter into paper-lined or greased muffin pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pan.

And, of course, these are much more fun to make when you have a helper. :)
